2018 INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS
Feb 1, 2018
Thinking about redecorating this summer? Check out these 5 trends to bring your property into 2018 the right way.
Rich, deep and moodier colours
Warm greys, camels, rust, tobacco and the timeless brown – blacks as well as reds, yellows and green are expected to edge out cooler neutrals to create that soothing and diverse mix of colours and textures.
Dark wood and tone on tone
When doors smoothly blend into walls it feels more interesting. Paint furniture the same tone as walls to create and really embrace this trend.
Stepping out of 2017 means stepping away from pale, bleached woods. Dark wood tones shout modern luxury and retro glamour. Finish these with metallic handles and legs with a splash of bronze, gold, black or marble and it gives it that touch of sophistication.
Brass is the new brushed silver
Brass furniture pieces, mirrors, and accessories all help to add a luxurious finish to any room. It’s a nice substitute to the common brushed silver and sure to be a conversation starter.
Keeping it natural
Incorporating the original architecture in the interior design will always stand the test of time. Concrete is a great alternative, it’s becoming more and more popular, it’s already used for floors and countertops, the versatile, accessible material is now being utilised in more interesting and unexpected ways, including in-home accessories, such as pendant lighting and furniture
People aren’t yet tired of eye-catching, oversized graphic florals just yet. Houzz expects even more interpretations of overscaled floral patterns, in high-contrast colours, in 2018. The trend is expected to evolve for 2018 – it’s less about vibrant carnival brights and more about mixing plenty of lush, energising greens.
